Because when you seek God on HIS terms God shows up.
For me God showed up directly in the way of my Judgement/Hell dream and in the way of an angel/messenger who told me of my past strife and prayers of my current situation and of my future, all of which was true and a great majority of the future stuff did indeed happen.

Then in passively I have access to God's wisdom which is displayed in business (2 US patents for "green refrigeration system) which we sold and rolled into our little shop which brought us from a local business to one who deals internationally. also It would seem I have an insite to how scripture works and can generally answers any question concerning God or the bible IE being able to assimilate the whole of evolutionary theory into a 7 day creation with out changing a word of either the bible or the current evolutionary model.
All without any formal training or schooling of any kind in these fields. matter of fact when i graduated high school I could not read past 4th grade level, and what i could read I could not extrapolate information from/everything went into deciphering what was on page. I started with commic books to teach my self how to read and then moved on to the bible.
I am not alone as most believers believe because in one form or another God has shown up in their lives.

The mental hospitals are full of individuals who believe that the Sun is communicating with them; you can't argue with these people.
when the sun says it will be hot today are you a fool who wears a jacket? when the sun says it will be cold today will you wear a tank top? or are you a fool who does not understand solar out put is not constant? meaning the sun does not radiate the same level of light and heat all the time? Or are you too stupid to understand that the fluctuations in solar out put is an indicator or form of communication that not only can tell you how to plan a day but week month or year? thankfully there are much smarter people who know how to 'communicate or read the sun and plant crops and raise live stock by it.

Over a decade of comparative religious study brought me to the realization that atheism is the rational conclusion. I'm still open to reasonable arguments, however. Give it your best shot.
what religions did you compare and how? what specifically did you look at? how did you test what each religion offered?
See I actually did what you are claiming and do have some idea of what it takes to critically examine a religion.
