You don't live or act that way, so why would you expect the writers then to. We all filter what we do through what we know and understand, it's called bias, and we all have one. Especially when one realizes the depth of omnipotence versus the finite reasoning capability of Humans. As acrobat says they weren't trying to convey scientific facts, they were conveying what they witnessed though their eyes.

It's not the car coming at you that you see first, it's a car that will hit you if you don't move. The stories of the Bible inform us how people lived, loved, hated, killed, etc. and of the promises of God and Jesus. Those are useful to me in my daily walk. I don't believe God is the author of confusion for believers. I do believe God can harden the hearts of people and reveals His understanding to us in His time.(July 5, 2019 at 12:21 pm)tackattack Wrote: No I'm not claiming it's a math book or a history book. I started off by pointing out to Fierce that the claims of the Bible as a science book, (History or math as well) is pretty ridiculous mainly because of it's purpose. Seen in the context and understanding of it's time, for what it's purpose was I feel it's very effective. If you're trying to use the Bible as a taxonomy or mathematics handbook you're headed the wrong direction, IMO.
Side note-I do love unicorns and although I've never seen one personally, believe they exist because of the Bible (and a few other sources).
Therefore it is utterly useless for the world of today and your god cant be bothered to issue an update. Apparently, your god actually is the author of confusion according to your claims.
ETA: Wait, WTF? You believe in fucking unicorns?
Yes I do believe in unicorns. Check your authorized KJV for Deuteronomy 33:17, Psalms 92:10 and Psalms 22: 21. They're not the mythical magical ponies with horn that are floating in your head when someone says unicorns today. But the dictionary just 200 years ago had a different definition of unicorn, so word meanings apparently change. link- http://webstersdictionary1828.com/Dictionary/unicorn
"There ought to be a term that would designate those who actually follow the teachings of Jesus, since the word 'Christian' has been largely divorced from those teachings, and so polluted by fundamentalists that it has come to connote their polar opposite: intolerance, vindictive hatred, and bigotry." -- Philip Stater, Huffington Post
