Or perhaps we Christians often get stuck on 2 Corinthians 3:5, "Not that we are competent in ourselves to claim anything for ourselves, but our competence comes from God". That doesn't mean He has to get all the credit. It is proper to give thanks for the effort put in by the people who actually contribute. Paul was often thankful to God and to others.
Perfectly exemplified in a grace we said as kids:
'Matthew, Mark, Luke and John,
'Bless this food and the plate it's on.
'For the food that fills our tummy,
'Thank you, God and thank you, Mummy.'
