As it currently stands what is characterised as "far left" is mild social democracy, the right is Austrian School economics with far right social policy and the centre is economically identical to the right while paying lip service to fairness on social issues. The dems* badly need to swing somewhat to the left, a large part of their problems (once you take out the elephant in the room of republitraitor vote stealing) being that to too many people there near indistinguishable to their opponents.

The problem with the quoted bit is not that the two party system stops laws being enacted, it's that the governmental system was specifically designed to fossilise certain categories of law. The republitraitors are simply using the government as the founding fathers wanted and expected, to put a brake on democracy in favour of oligarchy.
