Consider - other " first world nations".
Japan - has about 30,000 suicides a year - and none by firearm.
Israel has hundreds of suicide on an average year - and gun ownership ( including "assault rifles") is commonplace.

Well, periodically, not according to Google maps. Google Maps sometimes will put little Easter eggs in its directions, including asking the user to swim an ocean when asked to provide direction from one continent to another.
