With such easy access to firearms, why isn't Israel's suicide rate much higher than Japan's?
Could it POSSIBLY be that there is no correlation between firearm ownership and suicide rates? (Unlike what the anti- gun crowd has been spewing for years).
It has been sayed for a lot of times already, it is not that guns make people want to commit suicide, it is about the easiness of commiting suicide using a gun.
If you really want to have a discussions about this using statistics, you should use statistics about failure rate. And even then it is clear that using a gun to commit suicide has a higher rate of succes than let's say hanging.
I only know one person (personally) who offed themself with a firearm. I know two people who did it (a 15 year old girl - neighbor and a 35 year old housewife) - by sticking their head in a plastic bag.
Seems there's more plastic bags than guns...
