Nope. You can't make the world safer by taking away a few guns. You can make it somewhat safer by locking people up.

I am not sure if i understood you correctly, but is your argument: "The crazy person may go on a killing spree once you try to confiscate his 30 guns, so you better lock him up"?
What if he goes on a killing spree once you try to lock him up?   
You think its a good idea to lock even more people up in the country where the inmates-per-capita ratio is already by far the worst in the civilized world?

Imho it becomes more and more apparent that you are desperately trying to adress the problem of gun violence by not adressing guns and their availiability at all. Of course i agree with (cant remember who it was) the poster who claimed that the problem of violence in general needs to be adressed in the american society.

And while you are pondering  , the next idiot is loading up a few magazines and grabs his rifle(s).....
