Nope. You can't make the world safer by taking away a few guns. You can make it somewhat safer by locking people up.
What if he goes on a killing spree once you try to lock him up?
You think its a good idea to lock even more people up in the country where the inmates-per-capita ratio is already by far the worst in the civilized world?
Imho it becomes more and more apparent that you are desperately trying to adress the problem of gun violence by not adressing guns and their availiability at all. Of course i agree with (cant remember who it was) the poster who claimed that the problem of violence in general needs to be adressed in the american society.
And while you are pondering , the next idiot is loading up a few magazines and grabs his rifle(s).....
What idiots in that camp fail to understand, is that reactionary measures after the buy when someone gets violent cost more to society, than if the CEOs of these companies and the shops that sell them would actually give a shit as to who buys them at time of sale.
Firearm companies and shop owners would actually have a far better reputation and be respected more if they didn't simply say, "Ok" just to make a buck.
Nobody should have a problem with background checks. Nobody should have a problem with waiting periods. Nobody should have a problem with bans on big clips or weapons of war. Nobody should have a problem with limits on how many one person has, or how much ammo that one person has. Nobody should have a problem locking them up at home. But because of 40 years of fear peddling by the CEOs of these companies, this camp falsely and wrongfully paints liberals as wanting a dictatorship and we do not.
i seriously would have no problem with firearm companies if they gave a shit about how many they made and where they ended up. But they do not give a shit.
