If the worst OLB gets here is offended, he still is not dead, like the epidemic of dead that I now America is capable of fixing.
OLB really has nothing to worry about if firearm safety laws are pragmatically put in use to the point of effectively reducing firearm violence to the levels of our allies like Australia and New Zealand.
This is not a flame war. This literally is a battle for the direction of America, and not just on this website.
If it worked like OLB claimed, nobody would be bitching, not the left, not the right. In a perfect world nobody would be bitching. But the truth is America is STILL #1 in firearm violence among our allies. If what OLB was claiming worked, we would not be #1 in firearm violence.
OLB has unfortunately been sold fear. I will not coddle his insecurities here, anymore than I would any far right 2nd nut on Twitter or Facebook.
It really WILL be ok, and we will NOT become a fascist state, if more people put public safety above the profits of firearm CEOS.
I understand you are passionately against guns. I am not, IMHO as Portuguese the US needs some sort of gun control. I have given ideas on how to go about that. It's all that I can do as a person having lots of ideas, an idiot.
My point in this post is to gather yourself, attack the idea, not the person. Stay frosty.
In a funny side note while I was writing this the radio stream started playing "dancing queen". I greatly vex ABBA.
I am not passionately against guns. I am passionately against the way far too many view guns.
If guns are not toys, and they are not, and everyone agrees that we should keep them out of the wrong hands, and I agree. Then our current bullshit assumption of "no record at time of legal buy will insure nothing bad happens after that legal buy" IS BULLSHIT.
It ultimately amounts to two camps. One camp does not give a shit how many we sell or where they end up. The other camp does NOT want to ban all sales, but simply does not want a flooded market.
I have two personal friends I would TRUST with an Ar-15 or a Tommy gun clip. The difference is that they would NOT object to a buyback program, and would NOT FALSELY accuse me of wanting tyranny. They'd simply accept they are not assholes, if it means giving up certain firearms and big clips, my GUN TOTING FRIENDS would accept that public safety is far more important than narcissism.
Public safety is not fascism, it is not an end to all firearm sales. It just means we should not make them like candy and hand them out like candy.
