Well, that's not exactly how it works. Manslaughter isn't necessarily a "less serious" charge, it's just a different way to define someone being killed.
Manslaughter is also a first degree felony in many states, if not all of them. Also, you can get life in prison for manslaughter.
If you're frightened of dying, and you're holding on, you'll see devils tearing your life away. But if you've made your peace, then the devils are really angels, freeing you from the Earth.
