It's not that I don't like the serious tag, it's that I think that it makes more sense to have a non-serious area of the forums and make seriousness a default for the rest of the forums.
I think all discussions are serious because a non-serious discussion isn't really a discussion ... it's a chat.
I never said that people shouldn't link to news articles.
Just because I don't think that atheism forums are necessary doesn't mean I can't enjoy them. I don't think ice cream is necessary either but I can enjoy that just fine.
I know I'm not required to be here. Again, just because X is not required doesn't mean X is pointless. Just because my being here is not necessary doesn't mean I can't enjoy being here.
If you're not unhappy, why the constant whinging about the forum?
And yes, you did say people shouldn't link to news articles.
Your ice cream analogy is badly flawed. It's more as if you constantly complain about ice cream but keep going back to the ice cream shop.

What's with the poor attitude? Seems more like you're the unhappy one.
Constructive criticism is not the same thing as "constant whinging".
That's twice now that you've accused me of saying that people "Shouldn't link to news articles" when I certainly didn't say that. Does pointing out that you're inventing stuff I never said count as "whinging" on my part?
My analogy was fine but yours is terrible. If we're going to add my criticism into the analogy then it's more like me asking for them to replace one of the flavors.
And, yes, that's if we're going to add to my analogy and change its purpose completely ... because you completely moved the goalposts. My analogy was about the fact that just because something is unnecessary doesn't mean it's pointless and can't be enjoyed. My analogy was just fine for that but you just moved onto a different point after I pointed out the absurdity of your failing to make that basic distinction.
I said that just because X isn't necessary doesn't mean that X can't be enjoyed ... after all, ice cream isn't necessary but that doesn't stop it being enjoyable. That analogy was perfectly good and it only became nonsensical to you because you twisted it into nonsense after failing to address what I actually said.
But, I'm new here, I'm not unhappy at all (I am posting every now and then, on here, when I'm bored. Some of the responses back I've gotten from some posters have been sensible. Others, such as yourself, not so much. As you do appear to have a massive chip on your shoulder over nothing. Crticism is "unnecessary" and "whinging" and a sign of me being "unhappy", apparently), but it appears that at least one of the staff members is so hypersensitive about criticism that they insist that new users must be "constantly whinging" after they offer some ideas and state their preferences.
So much for a "welcome" on my introduction thread ... the only one who whinged here was you.
