I joined because I'm on a big atheism and nihilism kick after softening and being more of an agnostic in my late 20s, largely out of wishful thinking. I'd like to have a community of purely secular people to talk to. I found it very motivating to re-realize that there is no afterlife or grand plan so I had better get off my butt and achieve things now. I'd like to hold on to that rather than be around people who will tell me things are 'God's plan'.
