Interesting priorities.
I felt the same way at first, but I've come to realize that it IS important to impeach a judge or president for impeachable offenses even when you can't remove them from office because of one party's opposition.
McConnell is in an unenviable position: he can't afford the appearance of impartiality because he won't be reelected if the president turns on him, but without an appearance of impartiality required by the oath senators take when acting as jurors in an impeachment, he endangers the slim majority Republicans hold in the senate.

But sure, whoop
He needs the Independents to win reelection, his base by itself isn't enough. With 54% of the nation supporting Trump's impeachment, he clearly doesn't have the Independent vote. He's never been a president for all Americans.
But I never would have thought he would be nominated or elected in the first place, particularly by a country that elected and reelected Obama; so I won't be particularly surprised if he pulls it off again.
I'm not anti-Christian. I'm anti-stupid.
