Yea, "hands free'. It isn't just your hands, your eyes should be on the road. The downside to driving, as it has always been, is that the more multi tasking you do while driving increases the possibility of an accident. Even reaching for a cigarette, or your wallet or purse while in motion takes your eyes of the road.

It is just as dangerous in a big city like New York to walk and use a cell phone. You can walk into light pole, or out into traffic.
I din't force him to answer his cell, but I still feel bad he got a ticket.
Moving violations are damned near impossible to defend when you get a ticket. Most people simply pay the ticket and get it over with.
If you go to court and the cop fail to show, your charges will be dismissed, If your violation is minor, and the cop has no other reason to be in court on your court date, the cop will often not bother to show and your case will be dismissed.
Get out of two tickets that way, not that I intentionally gambled on the cop not showing.
That's part of the reason so few people challenge violations here. Cops are required to be in court for any citations which make it that far, it doesn't matter what the charge or potential penalty is. Failure for a cop to be at your hearing on the appointed day and time can result in that cop being suspended.
