And more interestingly why would a god put owl eyes on a butterfly when he would have any other option ?
Exactly.
But no matter how evolution selects for survival advantages, creationists would be pointing to those as the work of a god. A very inefficient god, but a god nonetheless.
There are many species of butterflies, that are extremely colorful and are the least camouflaged of all, but they taste bad to predators. So, their survival advantage is to advertise their identity of tasting bad, by being gaudy.
Bad taste must be created by god, too. Not as impressive as flashy owl eye patterns, though.
When 'god did it' is your panacea to explain everything, it actually explains nothing. It has no explanatory power.
As soon as one can substitute, 'butterfly designing gnomes are responsible for owl eye patterns on butterfly wings' in place of 'a god is responsible', and lose nothing in explanatory power, you know your explanation is useless.
You'd believe if you just opened your heart" is a terrible argument for religion. It's basically saying, "If you bias yourself enough, you can convince yourself that this is true." If religion were true, people wouldn't need faith to believe it -- it would be supported by good evidence.
