Covid19 has had its roots traced genetically to pangolins in Malaysia, and that their being smuggled into China is the root cause. I'd expect that the disease would have blossomed there if the Malaysians ate pangolins, but I guess that they don't? 

It turns out that the pangolins aren’t actually the source of the virus. The pangolin and human versions are too different to be a proper match. It turns out the working theory is that it’s more likely bats, because the virus has been found to be closer to humans in local bats.
