Preppers still look silly. As silly as any consumer trend, anyway. Generators and batteries, lol. High dollar retail items that will work for..maybe, a week after the gas stations close and the lights go out. An old lawn mower will pull the same trick.
If people were "prepping" - rather than consuming - they'd realize that generator failure, rather than grid failure, is the real emergency. Alot more fun to buy a new toy at lowes than to dig or build cold storage, I suppose. Cheaper than PVs, too.
Strange irony, in that people who live in urban areas have already signed their bid for survival - and there's not really a credible way to "prep" for them...but we rurals have all sorts of opportunities that by and large no one wants to fuck with. Content in imagining that engaging in this society's main occupation is...somehow...preparing them for it's collapse.
