It's your who is making invalid conflations
Night is a period of darkness ON A PLANET or other body orbiting a star and all the dictionary definitions and the pictures clearly freaking shows .THERE IS NO NIGHT IN SPACE THE TERM IS MEANINGLESS IN SPACE. NIGHT ISN'T SIMPLY DARKNESS ANY MORE THEN SIMPLY LIGHT IN SPACE IS DAY . THERE IS A CONTEXT YOUR IGNORING !!!!
Not night .Night and day are meaningless in space.
DAY AND NIGHT in the only meaningful context !!!
ON A PLANET ORBITING A STAR
And i'm not alone in pointing this out
No. Day is when the sun lights the place, night is when the sun is not there.
Here on earth; we are floating aboard a planet in space, sungula. When our star is not there; then it is night.
No need for arrows and very large pictures which are nothing but -excuse me- gymnastics around the fact I just stated.
Here earth is turning on it's axis and orbiting a star .No Axis no orbit no day and night .Day and night have no meaning in space as night isn't simply darkness nor day simply light . There is an specific astronomical context to day and night which revolves around planets turning on their axis and orbiting a star. If we travelled though deep or interplanetary space there would be NO day or night .
There is because you clearly are getting the context .So far i shown overwhelming evidence for my position while all you have done is repeat your opinion and insist based on nothing that it's the common usage . You have stated no fact just your opinions to shoehorn modern science into your book .
Quote:We have day and night because the Earth rotates. It spins on its axis, which is an imaginary line passing through the North and South Poles. The Earth spins slowly all the time, but we don't feel any movement because it turns smoothly and at the same speed
Quote:Why Does Earth Have Day and Night?
While you don't feel it, Earth is spinning. Once every 24 hours Earth turns — or rotates on its axis — taking all of us with it. When we are on the side of Earth that is facing the Sun, we have daylight. As Earth continues its spin, we are moved to the side facing away from our Sun, and we have nighttime. If we were looking down on Earth from above the north pole, we could see that Earth rotates counterclockwise, and we would watch daylight and darkness sweeping across our globe from east to west.
Quote:Yes! All the planets in our solar system spin on their axes (so does our Sun!) and so they have day and night cycles. There are differences, however, in the length of day and night — the cycles are made even more complex by the tilt of a planet's axis and its rate of orbit. Some planets rotate faster than Earth and some rotate slower. Mars has a day and night cycle similar to Earth. Mars rotates on its axis once every 24.6 hours. Venus turns once on its axis every 243 Earth days (which is only slightly longer than it takes for Venus to go around the Sun!). Mercury's day and night cycle is more complex. Mercury rotates one-and-a-half times during each orbit around the Sun. Because of this, Mercury's day — from sunrise to sunrise — is 176 Earth days long. The larger planets spin much faster. Jupiter rotates once every 10 hours, Saturn spins once every 11 hours, and Neptune completes a rotation in 16 hours. Pluto, at the farthest reaches of our solar system, spins on its axis once every 6.4 days.
Quote:The change between day and night is caused by the rotation of the Earth on its axis. If the Earth did not rotate as it does, the day/night cycle would be very different or possibly even nonexistent. The changing lengths of days and nights depends on where you are on Earth and the time of year. Also, daylight hours are affected by the tilt of the Earth's axis and its path around the sun.

Please explain "When our star is not there;".

Hurr Durr !!! Night is simply darkness and day is simply light. So if i hide in my closet at 3pm it's night time in the closet because i can't see the sun.
Me and everyone else with more the two brain cells

No night and day is determined by a planet turning on its axis while orbiting a star .It's day in your closet till the planet turns you idiot

It's apparently night in this cave and daytime outside it
