[Quranic Reflection]: Surprise surprise..children are purchased to this day

You read that right: yes...adopting a child cost money -money on the head of the newborn-.

Other types of adoption usually do cost money. According to Child Welfare Information Gateway, working with a private agency to adopt a healthy newborn or baby or to adopt from another country can cost $5,000 to $40,000. Some agencies have a sliding scale based on the prospective adoptive parent’s income.

Often, some  people accuse the Quran for advocating slavery when it mentions the story of Joseph -peace be upon him-, who got sold to a family that wants to adopt him:

( 21 )   And the one from Egypt who bought him said to his wife, "Make his residence comfortable. Perhaps he will benefit us, or we will adopt him as a son." And thus, We established Joseph in the land that We might teach him the interpretation of events. And Allah is predominant over His affair, but most of the people do not know.

But if this is the case from ancient times, then what differed today in the so called "free world" ? buying children using dollars doesn't change the case that this practice is not slavery even by the standards of anti-Islam people.

Children are sold to this day, and good people adopt them for a price. So what's the fuss about the Quran and slavery? note that taking slaves is not even mentioned in the book.
