People taken into custody and inmates are known to bite. Sometimes it's the only thing they think they do...can't really swing at someone if you have cuffs on and some know a bite leads to a law enforcement officer or corrections officer having to endure many medical tests and precautionary treatment protocols even if the skin isn't broken.
My brother has been bitten several times during his years as a prison guard.
