For me? I am amazed by the things I'm slowly learning on acasual basis about cells and biology adn stuff. Then again, I'm also amazed and fascinated when I read my favourite daily blog about astronomy and the things suh people are seeing in the skys around us.
As for "The RNA world" ? I think they've found that DNA and RNA could exist structurally in the early abiogenesis phase but the article escapes me at the moment.
Then you have the whole "Consciousness" and at what level of organism does it manaifest?
Since there's evidence that single cells critters can and do show signs of 'Panic mode' when being attacked/'Eaten' by other micro organisms at one level and then the active hunting behavious of things like the 'Australian Box jelly fish'. Something that's pretty much just rudimentary sense organ controlled death swimming through the ocean.
