My theory is that their culture suppresses women. The muslim men have taken women out of their society, out of their way of life (except for bearing children). Muslim women are totally subservient to muslim men.

Though Islam is highly regressive when it comes to women. Muslim cultures for one reason or another have adopted prove female attitudes

Did you ever notice when the news shows a muslim city protesting, it's always men in the streets, waving inflammatory banners, burning effigies. Where are all the women? Do you know what happens when you group a large number of men together? It's the testosterone factor. It breeds aggression. 

Women have a calming factor on men. Take them out of the equation and all you have are a bunch of testosterone-laden animals looking to prove their physical superiority over others.
