Like a color blind police will correlate the percentage of people in prison with the color of the skin of the person upon whom they would draw their gun?
And police may not make Too much money on the basis of yearly salary, but they Typically make that salary for Perhaps 60+ years for but at most 20 years of work. In total lifetime income they make a quite good money for their typical level of education, and even risk.
The average american lives to 78.5, long enough for my case but embarrassingly short for being in a supposedly developed country.
On the other hand, the average American who has failed to die in his or her first 20 years, (A prerequisite for joining the force), can expect to live to be 80.2 years old, still embarrassingly short for a developed country, but quite long enough to make my case.
So a police person who joins the force at 20 can retire at 40-45, and Expect to continue to draw 80- 95% of the highest salary made during the years they were in the force, and in many cases not just the highest salary but highest earned income including bonuses, with adjustememt for inflation, till he or she is 80.2 years old.
