Frankly, whether or not Trump could have done anything to stop the violence, it's clear that:
- His party is the one least interested in examining the systemic racial issues that these protesters are so angry about in the first place.
- Exploitation of protests and vilifying protesters isn't a new thing to the Republican party:
- Trump is all but explicitly taking the side, not just of the deeply flawed police forces who keep killing unarmed black people, but of white supremacist vigilantes:
And, frankly, with all this in mind, it makes sense that the mayor of Kenosha can see this and say "You're not Helping!"
