I was raised to believe unquestioningly in fundamentalist Christianity too, and although I had my first serious doubt while in HS after reading the Bible cover-to-cover; it was about 15 more years of gradually eroding my faith to make me an atheist. Maybe the 'ripping the Band-Aid' off method would have saved me some time. Still, I'm surprised that kid was so successful while being so harsh.
