Eh, I always preferred Joe Friday. I mean, sure, a lot of the views he expressed on the show come across as needlessly reactionary (the heavy anti-drug messaging and the defenses of the police system as a whole in particular have aged like wine, except in this case, they turned to vinegar), but he was basically the exemplar of what a cop should be: Tough, but fair, and honest, with almost unrealistic levels of integrity, and even as he became a mouthpiece for “law and order,” he never missed an excuse to take shots at fuckers like these:
