In my mom's case when she was in a nursing home, she had a pension. Her nursing home rent was $4,000 a month. The only way she could get Medicare to pay for it is if her savings got drained to $2,000 total, then Medicare would kick in.
My point is, poor or middle class, nobody should go broke or become indentured slaves because they get sick.
