Is such an event possible? I am not politically minded enough to know for certain, but I am smart enough to understand that such a future is scary for at least half of the country.
In such an event, will the Republicans take away your freedoms? Are you going to allow yourself to get stuck in such a country or will you have left before it was too late?
Of COURSE Republicans would take away your freedoms. This has been part and parcel of conservative ideology forever.
For all their blathering about freedom and liberty, they can't wait to take away limit your freedoms about where to work, who to love, how to live. It's what they do.
