You blame the religious, and they deserve it, but seem to forget that the King or tribal leaders went along and even encouraged it with tax breaks and what not.

To repeat, because it's possible that he couldn't have saved more people, it's a non sequitur to conclude without further argument that he is immoral for not doing so. Nobody is immoral for not doing the impossible, even God.
