White looking defendants are more likely to be able to afford private lawyers who are less likely to acquiesce to a harsh "minimum sentence" charge than a court appointed lawyer making little more than minimum wage and struggling under a prodigious workload.

Much more comprehensive if you have a springer or jstor account to read the whole thing.

Just to clarify...and we can go down this road of adhoc explanation after adhoc explanation if you want...
In the context of what would evidence of racism, systemic or otherwise look like, you asked for evidence that accounted for a specific set of confounding variables.
That evidence was provided
And now we are moving the goal posts. I'm wondering if as I keep supplying you with more and more evidence account for more and more confounding variables if we won't find ourselves in a "missing link" fallacy? Also...I would call what you just described as a non racist example of why it might be the case, an example of systemic racism.

People who fit the appearance of criminals are more likely to get "pulled over" - really, that is all. It's unfortunate "per capita, far more criminals are black looking males than any other demographic" has a "racial" component which pings oversensitive wokey woke "Racism!" fee fees in this day and age but, well, it can't be helped I guess, baring some drastic increase in the knowledge and wisdom of genpop...fat chance I guess, especially in the states...Donald Trump etc ad inf.
Post to the initial quote in red above...
To the second quote...
Do you think your 15/40(or 13/50) description of crime statistics is a relatively accurate reflection of the bolded portion?
Specifically...
Do you think the proportion of people in a group that are charged with a crime is comparable to the proportion of people within that group that commits crime?
