Wicked practices of many sorts happen virtually everywhere in this world! The problem is the condition of the heart of the perp, whatever their occupational station (teacher, priest, etc) or gender!
Also, I would be remiss if I did not caution about insulting GOD in the attempt to compare hideous practices to a Divine event of such spiritually consequential magnitude (it wasn't for fun and games). - (Matt 12:36).
Ultimately, every human being is individually accountable to The Creator! (2 Corinthians 5:10).

You seem pretty quick on the draw for scripture to quote. Can you give me a date for when actual confession to a priest was instigated (not confessing with one's mouth, because that's not the same thing at all), and I guess I should ask for a date when xtians decided that there was actually a hell. I'll respond to your posts when you come back with those date. Bonus question- please tell me when the Catholic church started waffling on the hell issue.
I am quick to do so because I have come to know and believe at least three invaluable things - that "all Scripture is given by inspiration of GOD" - 2 Tim 3:16, that "prophecy never came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit." - 2 Peter 1:21, and just as important, "Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God." - Luke 4:4
I am not qualified to comment on "a date for when actual confession to a priest was instigated" or "Catholic church started waffling on the hell issue."
However, GOD Himself (and not Christians), reveals the existence of hell in the first several books of the Holy Bible through His prophets (Job 11:8, Job 17:16, Job 26:6 & Deuteronomy 32:22), in approx. 6th & 7th BCE, respectively.
