They have more wind than anyone else in the us and it's a damned good thing they do..since the fossil fuel solutions are failing in inclement weather while the turbines are running over 100%.
Fox claimed that the turbines were freezing because they knew that it was just the right way to butcher the truth for their audience. TBT, their grid isn't even failing. It's doing exactly what it was designed to do - keep the price of energy high to incentivize producers and investment.
In the twenty years I lived in SC it was a thing to stop and acknowledge even the tiniest breeze. Such a nice little pleasure from the stifling muggy gnat-filled misery that was the norm.
We moved here to TX and the first thing that went was my collection of various flags. A "breeze" here can be 25 mph. Wind gusts of 40 mph are the norm. It was quite a difference for us to go from air that never moved to air that's never still.
So far, in this weird winter storm, we haven't lost power. I'm figuring our next electric bill could have a comma in it. Apparently some water treatment plants are struggling and there are boil water alerts issued in several areas. By mid next week we should be in the 70s.
