Famed career reporter Roger Mudd died.
He was in the hotel when Robert Kennedy was murdered.
I have to be honest, I really didn't know much of his career other than hearing his name and seeing him growing up when I didn't care about news at the time. But being older and wiser, and having a communication degree and interning in media both tv and radio, I had to bring his death up here. Especially after years of Trump vilifying the press.
I watched his history in news clips over his career, and damned, he covered lots of important stories worldwide.
He and the likes of Edward R. Murrow and Walter Cronkite are a gigantic reason I defend journalists tooth and nail. Mudd along with countless others are why the west remains the open society we need to be.
