Even though your guy may love getting new tools (example the Dremel set I bought my husband some years ago for Christmas), your wife doesn't want a vacuum cleaner for her birthday.
One year I got tires...just the tires...they weren't mounted and I had to haul them to a shop to have them put on the rims and then onto my car. Nice gift-poor delivery. Husband, on the other hand, was thrilled with the hood I got him for his project car. A neighbor asked the next year if we were staying with the car parts theme.
