His targeting of what he percieved to be asian sex workers, and specifically asian, was intentional - as that was the locus of the sexual fetish that he used to sanitize his actions by referencing addiction.
Are we really going to take a trip to crazy town and argue that a guy who specifically targetted asian massage parlors wasn't specifically targeting asians?
I guess the silver lining here, is that even racists would rather be addicts than racists. Perhaps that's why they fail, and their sympathizing apologists fail, to realize that a person can be both - and that the one can be directly tied to the other.
