One of bill mahers guests made a good point a bit back. We don't have capitalism or socialism, we have cronyism - pure and straight. The problems we have aren't the ills of either system that we don't have, but the ills of the one that we do.
So, for example, the extent to which we consider any action on any issue from an institutional standpoint is how well that plan sorts people into lever pulling automotons that can be used to reward one's circle of friends and enrich ones donors. This is the explanation for why measures with broad public support across the aisle have little political value. Things like gun control. Getting together with your constituency and the other guys constituency to do something that both constiuencies want? Fuck that.
How are we supposed to make sure that the inevitable largess only flows to our own up and downlines?
