Even when I was six years old and we were getting religious indoctrination in primary school I could never see it as anything other than fairytales. And that was without any help from my parents who were non-religious(rather than actual atheists).
I think what pisses me off more than anything else is the extraordinary lengths theists will go to and the mental gymnastics they will perform in order to validate their book of fairytales.
Even though ALL of the physical evidence is against it they will still proclaim their particular book to be the ABSOLUTE truth.
It puts my in mind of the concept of "doublethink" which Orwell spoke of in 1984 http://www.google.com.au/url?sa=t&rct=j&...cNCgxsuwCg
