Understanding transgenderism.

I don't understand it because I cant empathise with the feeling of being born the wrong gender.
What I think is that I am therefore not qualified to have an informed opinion on it and leave to people who actually know about that sort of thing.

I am intelligent enough to admit my ignorance.

There is also the question of whether definition of gender should primarily support the urge of individual towards self expression, or the perceived need of society to standardize and regimentize, or some mixture of these.
