Sounds to me like they see a man alone with his cat and his whistling empties and they send over food. Chances are they make more than plenty are are being neighborly.
Buying them a case of beer would be a nice gesture but I don't think they are plying you with tacos in the hopes that you will spring for a cold one.

I know they were simply trying to be nice. In the 10 years they have lived next to me, that is all I have ever thought.
I simply don't want them to be offended because I took the plate, thanked them, and went back inside without hanging out with them.
It really at this point really just is about COVID. I don't even hang out with Dwayne right now. You must have missed the post in this thread where I said if it weren't for COVID, I'd bee mooching tacos and Modelo off of them and giving them lampshade intertainment to laugh at.
I am not buying them beer out of any expectation. But my mom always drilled it into me as a kid, to give those who give to you some sort of thank you.
