Painting on a car?

So, I've got my paint, all the colors that I need. All bought in 1-Shot oil-based lettering enamel. I decided to practice before going ahead and doing the commission for my dad, simply because I'm unfamiliar with this material. I don't know how enamel will be different from oil paint.

Turns out, not different at all. My practice is done on a piece of metal that my father gave me, painted with the exact same paint he has on his car. It took me 4 hours exactly from start to finish. I really like how quick the 1-shot paint dries. It starts to go but you have a few moments before it gets gummy, so, I can add another color and mix it right on the canvas to blend it. And in cases like when I needed the bright white against the black, I waited 5-10 minutes, working on another part of it, and then I could directly apply white without mixing in the black. 

It was a lot of fun and I think I will enjoy this project. I decided to use Bruce Timm's Poison Ivy as a practice, so as not to make my ADHD short out doing my real commission twice. That'd suck, yeah? To paint one of the Janes beautifully on this scrap metal and then lose the motivation to do it on the actual car. I free-hand drew her from sight. I think her hips are a bit wide and her head tilt isn't exact. So, I might use homemade stencils to help guide my hand for the two Janes on the actual car.

Damn, that's a mighty fine job! If you want, you should hang out a shingle, painting pinstripes on old guys' hot rods. You have enough paint left to do a bunch of vehicles if you're using the 4 ounce tins.
