I think weapons manufacturers should be held liable for a mass killing. I don't think that's insane. Especially if the people suing are the victims of the weapon they made.

I don’t think that’s legally possible or ethically supportable. You can’t select one class of legal product out of thousands and hold the manufacturer responsible for that product’s criminal misuse.

Suppose I make a bomb out of chemical fertilizer and blow up a building, killing dozens of people and injuring hundreds more. Is DowAgro responsible for those deaths and injuries?

Is Schrade going to get sued if someone is stabbed to death with one of their knives? After all - knives and other such pointy instruments were designed and used as weapons since the beginning of mankind.

Did Schrade specifically design its knives for the purpose of killing? Whether sharp objects have been used for killing in the past is irrelevant to that point.
