Which is why I do not listen to NPR anymore. It's identity politics all day, every day, as if that's all anyone cares about.
I swear I've read and re-read definitions of "identity politics" and I still cannot fully understand what is meant by that.
But you have stated something that I've debated many times before. NPR is not a strong left leaning news agency. Analyses have determined that NPR news tends to lean slightly left, which I think is fine. But when you do a similar analysis of agencies like Fox, OAN, NewsMaxx, those are outrageously right leaning. There are others that lean left and to me news should be delivered neutrally or at worst with only a slight bias. So, no fan of the right can criticize any news agency for leaning left as long as Fox, et. al exists.
BTW, when I ask people who claim this about NPR to name a specific piece that demonstrates what they are talking about, I always hear nothing but crickets.

"Things are getting too PC!"
Oh no! People are being polite to one another and not being assholes! Whatever will we do!
Someone else mentioned earlier in the thread that this appears to mostly be righties who feel pressured by the left to behave a certain way. And I suppose those of us on the left are not supposed to feel angry by righties who pressure us to behave in certain ways?
Why is it so?
