If a teacher hit us (corporal punishment was allowed/legal at the time), my dad would be up in that teacher's face, up to and including backing guys who used to play college football into janitor's closets for a little "education". Word got out that if you had a problem with one of the Fireball boys, all you had to do was send a note home. There's nothing that the school administration could do that would match what we got at home. We really weren't all that mischievous. I'm truly amazed that he didn't end up in prison. Different times, I guess. He was also an atheist, which I didn't know, back then. If a priest had molested one of us, I'd guarantee that he'd have gone to prison...and pretty sure that the priest would have been underground.
It's interesting that the violent parents go ballistic when someone else is violent with their child. It was confusing to me growing up. It was okay for dad to beat me bloody but if anyone else laid a hand on me they would have hell to pay. I was there as his punching bag and I suppose he didn't want to share.
