The thing about gore is, it can be used well. It's visceral. It can bring you into a scene and make you feel unease.

Also, it tends to be non-CGI, old school special effects stuff. I appreciate old school special effects, especially in creature features. I'm not a purist or anything. CGI has its place. But I also appreciate it when a puppet is so well-crafted that it freaks me out.
