If you like creature features, Mister, you wanna see Lights Out. It's a good one.
'Blair Witch' made me queasy...not the plot (and I use that word loosely) but the awful filming.
I like psychological thrillers...no gore is best. 'Silence of the Lambs' is a good example of the type of scary movie I like.
I used to read scary books, like The Exorcist, but have read little in that genre in a long time.

It’s not so much the *yuck* factor as it is the laziness of the filmmakers. A film like ‘Psycho’ requires a helluva lot more cinematic artistry than ‘A Nightmare On Elm Street’.
