I like psychological thrillers...no gore is best. 'Silence of the Lambs' is a good example of the type of scary movie I like.
I used to read scary books, like The Exorcist, but have read little in that genre in a long time.

As far as suspension of disbelief, that is valuable for entertainment purposes only. But it is deadly when one is trying to ascertain the nature of reality.
