Simple because it wasn't just the Kents that took him in it was the earth itself and humanity itself. Superman has been influenced and protected by more than just the Kents. Also, he didn't consent to the Kents being his parents so why does he owe them anything by your logic?

 What can I say?  Bullshit.

He was baby and need to be protected.  He especially needed to be protected from the rest of humanity who would have exploited him and probably tried to kill him for being so different.

Yes, things happened to him a baby as it did to all of us that he might not have chosen if we had a choice..  I've read claims from psychologists that we owe our parents nothing either. The link below was found after a short search. It seems to be a widely held view. I'm not claiming it's necessarily true, only that it's different view from the one you seem to hold.

There's a lot of stuff online about this topic. I found it interesting but confusing. My position is that I owe my parents a great deal for the things they did for for me, for the sacrifices they made for me.. I owe them nothing for the things they did to me which did my head in.

There wasn't a single instance in the cannon of superman where he was in any danger of being exploited or needed to be protected from humanity and again my point was if he doesn't owe his adopted homeworld anything why would he owe his step-parents anything.

Only for preschoolers. This is a comic book/superhero character. You don't get marketing at all.

That's an opinion. One I don't share.  I don't see anything preschooler or unmarketable about the motto.
