I think I can see this. If we knew for certain that there was an afterlife, then living our life in such a way to insure we get there provides a clear goal or objective in life. Sort of like what we do with education as a pathway to a particular career. It depends on what is meant by "meaning of life". If we consider it our "meaning" to reach the afterlife, where we will be granted great honor and reward. This makes "meaning" essentially equivalent to "goal". If the definition of "meaning" is something different, then this vector wouldn't make a lot of sense. I don't believe we as a human specie have a common definition for that term. I think for many humans, "meaning of life" is more related to the legacy of their behavior and impact on the world is a more accurate.
