I would say that it has more to do with our animal instincts than anything else.
Think of male gorillas fighting. The big strong one beats the rest and gets the females.
Think of deer fighting each other over a single female.
Think of lions fighting each other over a single female.
Rooster and hens.
This same pattern can be observed again and again in various species.
Whether it is about judaism, christianity, islam, mormonism (and probably a whole lot of other cultures and their religions), the priest plays the role of the guy in control, the guy who makes the rules. The priest might even claim that the rules come from the higher being and anyone who is against the priest or the rule, will get smashed by the gods.
Guys don’t want other guys to fuck their females. Guys tend to want multiple females.
So, the priest might decide to which guy the young girl gets transferred to. It is possible that there is an excess of females, so some guys might get a few wives.
By extension, it has been decided in judaism that the daughter is the property of the father until she gets married. Then, she belongs to the guy.
You can find this in their rules.

2. If a guy rapes a girl who is not married, he has to pay the father 50 shekels of silver and the guy has to marry her.
She is considered damaged goods. She is no longer a virgin. No other man would want her.

The daughters don’t have a choice in this. They are just property to be traded off.
Lot was defending the 2 angels that were in his house by giving to the mob his 2 daughters.
Lot cares a lot about the well being of the 2 angels.
4. There is a part that says that over every woman in a household, there is his husband and over the husband, the boss is Jesus.
The woman is on the lowest level of the ladder.
Without a priest or some kind of law maker, the guys would probably fight each other to the death or severely injure each other.
How many women have been killed/injured bc they wanted to divorce their husband?
How many young girls have been killed/injured bc they wanted to leave their boyfriend?
We have to accept it. In general, it is the men who are more violent and resort to executing their ex-lover.
