I can't be sure why the attack happened, but I will disagree with your definition of racism. Racism is the belief that one race is superior to the other. It's not telling people to go out and commit attempted murder by knocking out old gringos. It's not making songs calling yourself a terrorist and rapping about shooting white people. These things go beyond simple 'racism'.

Racism isn't just believing one race is superior to another. So yes preaching violence against people because of their race is racism, Saying that your a terrorist is also racism if you're attending to terrorize people because of their race or for a racist cause. Though it's unlikely either of these things motivated the attack. But I get why you want racism to merely be White Supremecy. Too bad racism is a broad definition.
